Chris MilliganBaie d'Urfe, QC That's me then and now. I became a teacher. Went to Sir George and graduated in Geography (that was an influence of Mrs. Varey). After Macdonald College I taught elementary school (Westminster, Elizabeth Ballantyne) in the PSBGM System. Taught high school at Lasalle Protestant . Taught beside Grant Blair, Gorden Day, Margaret Varey who were former Monklands teachers. Started at McGill University, Faculty of Education in 1976 (still there). Had the pleasure of becoming a Faculty colleague of former Monkland staff memers --Oscar Purdy (Math), Bill Boswell (H.S. English), and Lorna Howarth (English Language Arts). Married Mary (a LSB - Beaconsfield HS grad) in 1967 (35 years this July) a high school Art Teacher. She practice taught at Monklands and her first fulltime appointment was at Monklands in 1967/68. Family: We have three sons

Mrs. King took over part way through the year from Mrs. Esepian.
This pic was taken on the east side of the school after the class had just won that mascot for collecting the most money for the Red Cross (I believe)

Ottawa Music festival may 4, 1959 Young City Musicians Take Festival Honors "The outstanding band from Montreal, Monkland's High school under the direction of W. Grant Blair, was awarded the Henry Morgan Trophy as the best brass and reed band with players in grades 9-11." Solo winners under 17 years old: Winston Purdy -John C.
