EUROPEAN SWORDS

Europe by far has the most varied types of swords seen in history. This is mostly due to the numerous cultures that developed differently from one another. The swords that characterized this region were as follows: the broadsword, shortsword, rapier, gladius, bastard (hand and a half) sword and the war sword. While not all swords are listed but the categories are broad enough to include the different variations of each type in use throughout Europe.
