NORTH AMERICAN

SWORDS

The only sword utilized in North America for any significant period of time was the sabre used in cavalry regiments of the 19th and into the early 20th century. The sabre was used from horseback and thus had a long blade curved for slashing and wielded in one hand. It is still used presently in the various armed forces as a ceremonial weapon.

(the sabre was also used throughout Europe during the same period)
