General Assembly: The EGSS holds two open assemblies each academic year (spring and fall). These meetings are open to all graduate student members of the EGSS. Approval of new programs/initiatives, review of financial documents, and presentation of candidates for executive officers positions all take place at the General Assembly. As a bonus, we always have free coffee and snacks! Stay tuned to the “News & Events” section of this website for announcement of upcoming dates.

Elections: Each academic year we hold two elections – one in the late spring to vote in candidates for the coming year’s EGSS Executive Council, and then a second by-election in the fall (end of September) if there are new candidates that hope to fill open positions on the council. Elections are conducted with assistance from the Post-Graduate Student Society (PGSS) and their online voting system. Details of upcoming elections and a link to online voting will be distributed via the EGSS listserv, as well as posted in the “News & Events” section of this website.

Get Involved! We are always looking for graduate students to get involved with the EGSS. This may include involvement with the conference planning committee, or actually running for a position of the Executive Council. If you are interested in putting forward your name for any of the currently vacant positions, please contact egss@mail.mcgill.ca

Post Graduate Student Society: The Post Graduate Student Society (PGSS) of McGill University represents EGSS and other graduate student organizations that fall under their umbrella. They are based at Thomson House – where there is a bar, restaurant, meeting rooms, places to study, informal classes, and lots of other fun activities. Another great way to get involved on campus! PGSS also have a listserv that is quite helpful and informative. Go to their website and click on “subscribe” if this is of interest to you.
