
Winners of the EGSS Travel Award will be entitled to an award of $250 for presenting at a conference or scholarly meeting in Canada or the United States; or $500 for presenting outside of the Canada or the United States. If funding is available, awards will be offered to all eligible applicants; otherwise, awards will be attributed by a random draw. Please see detailed information below. Please note: You can apply for the EGSS Travel Award even if you have not received acceptance for your conference presentation. Indicate on your application form that the proposal has been submitted, but you have yet to receive official notification. Proof of acceptance will be required before award payments are distributed.
Application guidelines:
1) All graduate students in the Faculty of Education currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program are eligible to apply for the award (including non-thesis or international students).
2) Applicants must be presenters (paper, poster, etc.) at a workshop or conference
that requires travel outside of Greater Montreal. Proof of acceptance will be required prior to payment of award.
3) Recipients are encouraged to share their work through presentation at either at Research Exchange Forum (REF) or the annual EGSS conference. Presentations at the REF are organized throughout the academic year, and the EGSS conference is held in March.
4) Students are eligible to receive only 1 award per academic year.

McGill conference support:
As of May 2009, funds for graduate student research travel (previously allocated through the Alma Mater Travel Grant competition) will be allocated to individual Faculties via the GREAT program. The Graduate Research Enhancement and Travel (GREAT) awards expands the mandate of the Alma Mater Travel Grant program and has an annual budget of $300,000. GREAT awards are administered by individual units. Watch your departmental listserv and/or speak with your graduate program director if you have questions about the GREAT awards in your unit!
