Musical Alchemy
is led by Ian Hanchet — For grades 4 – 9

We are going to learn (in a fun way) how to spin ideas into songs. Course will include:

Analysis and intersection of proven “hit” songs
Anatomy of your favourite songs
Rewriting of masterpieces
Tools of the trade and tricks of the trade
Pearls and oysters — knowing what to keep
Collaboration — drawing on the strengths of your peers (Lennon/ McCartney, Rodgers/Hammerstein)
Creating your own songs
Recording your own songs
Registering your song with SOCAN and how royalties work.

What to do next!!
This course is open to campers with a vision and some musical ability. This activity will be offered in weeks 3 and 4 as Musical Alchemy 2.
