Recreational Debating 1&2
is led by Padraic Scanlan-For grades 6-9

Recreational Debating is for young people with an interest in debating and current events. Participants will learn how to structure an argument and how to respond fairly and respectfully to each other’s arguments. They’ll explore different styles of organized debate, and discuss current events to fi nd new ideas for debates. They will practice public speaking and develop critical thinking. Participants will be involved in all aspects of organized debate, from debating to judging. This will be an engaging activity for anyone with an interest in current events and a healthy intellectual curiosity.


This activity will be repeated in weeks 3 and 4 as Recreational Debating 2.
