Mixed Media Material Explorations
is led by Laurel Hart - For grades 4 - 9

Start your own art collection at home and learn creative and cool art techniques that you can do with common materials found around the house, and some you might not have thought of ! Create artworks to trade and keep, with 1” buttons and world famous Artist’s Trading Cards. Make lanterns for your room and for a group lantern display!


Learn art forms that you can do with your friends – like making a group “zine” (magazine/comic) with a copy for everyone! Discover “post-secret” and the exciting world of mail art! This session will focus on encouraging experimentation with a wide range of creative materials, every day objects, as well as exploring some unusual materials like scratchboard, “gold” leaf, aluminum drawing and more. *At the end of this session the group would have created one large communal mixed media “painting”, from which a color print (photocopy) could be made for each of them to take home. They will also have their own beginning set of Artist Trading Cards and have participated in a trade with each other. They’ll all also get a copy of their Zine book to take home, and have one submitted to the “Zine Library” at le Cagibi.
