Our History
Since 1992, researchers and graduate students at the Center have strived
to understand the underlying factors related to youth gambling problems.
Initially established as the McGill Youth Gambling Research and Treatment
Clinic, the Center was involved in research, treatment, as well as the
training of researchers and professionals concerned with youth gambling.
Over time, the mandate and role of the Centre evolved and research began
to focus on multiple high-risk adolescent behaviours. In 2001, McGill
University's Senate officially approved the International Centre for Youth
Gambling Problems and High-Risk Behaviors as a McGill University Research
Centre. The Centre has grown considerably and has several full time staff,
in addition to postdoctoral, doctoral and master's level students.
