Welcome to the research website of Dr. Nancy Heath at McGill University! Dr. Heath's research team consists of undergraduate and graduate (Masters and Doctoral) students currently conducting a variety of studies related to resiliency factors and adaptive functioning in children and adolescents who are at-risk. Dr. Heath's team has received over 1.5 million dollars in research from provincial and federal agencies. More than 45 graduate students and numerous undergraduates have participated in the research team in the last ten years. Of eligible students in our lab, a remarkable 85% have won major awards. Our team collaborates with clinicians, school boards, and other researchers across Canada and internationally.
Our research team is committed to conducting both applied and basic research addressing issues of resilience in children and adolescents. Current areas of interest include non-suicidal self-injury, depression, self-perceptions, and working alliance. The students we work with include those with learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral difficulties, developmental coordination disorder, and those engaging in risky behaviours.
On our website you will find information on our team members and collaborators, summaries of ongoing projects, a sampling of our team's publications, conferences, and workshops, graduate student application information, information on how to participate in our research, and links to other sites providing resources for children, adolescents, and families. We hope you find this site useful!
