Notice to All Researchers in the Faculty of Education
In order to be compliant with the forthcoming U.S. Federal Wide Assurance for the Ethics of Research on Humans, it was agreed by the Chairs of four campus Research Ethics Boards (REB-I, REB-II, Education, and Agricultural and Environmental Studies) that effective immediately any request for ethics approval for a project associated with a U.S. federal funding agency (e.g., N.I.H., N.S.F.) that is submitted to them would be directed to the Institutional Review Board in the Faculty of Medicine for ethics review and approval. The Institutional Review Board in the Faculty of Medicine consists of two boards, A and B, and these will be officially registered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as the research ethics board at McGill University designated to act on such ethics approvals for campus-based research.

Microsoft Will Continue to Have Information on Windows 98
Microsoft is ending free support for Windows 98 on June 30. It will continue to offer paid incident support through next Jan. 16. Microsoft will consider program changes for security issues on a case-by-case basis. Also, there will still be much information on Microsoft's site. Windows 95 has not been actively supported for some time, but the company maintains data on it. Windows 98 has been out for several years now.
