2. New Deadline For Teaching Awards Nominations

The Nominating Committee would like to bring to your attention this call for Nominations for members the Advisory Committee to the Provost that is being established for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Education. The University Statutes (below) explain the committee:

3.4.2 Before recommending an appointment or reappointment for the office of dean of a large faculty, the Principal shall have consulted an advisory committee of thirteen members, which shall consist of four members nominated by the faculty immediately concerned, four members not necessarily members of the faculty concerned, nor of Senate, appointed by Senate, two members appointed by the Board of Governors, and three student members.

We have also been asked to name two alternates.

The following individuals have agreed to let their names stand:

If you are interested in serving, or in nominating a colleague, please complete the attached form and return it to me by Wednesday April 10, 2002. If we receive more nominations than needed to fill the positions we will arrange elections for the following week.

Please note that the deadline for the receipt of nominations for the two Faculty of Education teaching awards has been extended to Friday, April 5th. For information on these awards, please consult the March 25th issue of The Faculty Herald. Information and nomination forms are also available from Ms. Catherine Hughes, Secretary to the Dean (Deans Area, Rm. 230).

As nominations for these awards are accepted from students as well as faculty members, it would be helpful if this could be announced in your classes.Thank you in advance for giving this the widest possible circulation.
