You can access the ERIC database on OVID from the McGill Libraries homepage http://www.library.mcgill.ca/ Point the mouse to RESOURCES and then select E-INDEXES & DATABASES; go to the E section and select ERIC (OVID Online).

SSMU Library Improvement Fund 2002-2002 awarded to the Education Library is supporting this important initiative for two years.

We are looking into increasing the number of simultaneous signons to ERIC. Presently there are five (5) simultaneous users allowed.

If you have any questions, please call Lise Hacket at 8109 or Marilyn Cohen at 4687.

2 Excellence in Canadian Work-Family Research Award 2002

This notice is to remind faculty and students from Canadian Universities that the nominations for outstanding work-life papers are to be submitted by February 28, 2003.

The Excellence in Canadian Work-Family Research Award acknowledges the best graduate and undergraduate work-family research papers written in 2002 by students from Canadian Universities. The Hudson's Bay Company has generously sponsored these awards. The goal of this award is to increase knowledge of interdisciplinary efforts, and to support and encourage new scholars in the Canadian context.

Process of Nomination: A minimum of two faculty must review and recommend a student's paper for submission. The nomination form (attached to this message) requires brief comments from faculty as to the contributions made by the paper, contact information for nominating faculty, and contact information and signature of the student nominated. Nomination forms with an electronic and paper copy of the paper are to be sent to the Awards Committee, Centre for Families, Work & Well-Being, University of Guelph.

Deadline for Submissions: February 28, 2003. An awards committee of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students at the Centre will select winning entries by April 1, 2003. The top three undergraduate and graduate papers will receive special mention with the authors of the first place receiving $1000 for best undergraduate paper, and $2000 for best graduate paper. As a condition of the award, the successful recipient will grant the Centre for Families, Work & Well-Being permission to reprint the article on our website, and in future publications as appropriate
