1 Donation Deadline

Now that we are coming to the end of the Calendar Year as well as the Income Tax Receipt Year (December 31, 2001), I would like to remind you of the following:

1) All donations must be sent or forwarded to the Gift Services Department: A.S.A.P.

You may of course, designate your gift to a specific department account providing you in no way influence the expenditure of, nor personally benefit from the funds you donate.
This same policy applies to donations made at any time of the year.

2) Please ensure that all cheques dated December 31, 2001 or earlier, reach Rabinovitch House on time to enter the gift for the 2001 Tax year.

3) Gift Services will remain open until January 11, 2002 to record all gifts dated December 31st or prior and POSTMARKED by December 31, 2001.

4) Gift Services are legally not permitted to issue Income Tax Receipts for the year 2001, for any cheques postmarked or dated after December 31, 2001.

5) Electronic transfer of Securities or Wire of cash should also be done before December 18, 2001. For information on the appropriate procedures, please contact Gavin Wylie or Leah Trineer at the Treasury Department at 398-6040.

5 Positions Available

The University College of the Cariboo, in Kamloops, B.C., is looking for a Dean of the School of Education. The School presently offers a Bachelor of Education (Elementary) degree and a certificate and diploma programs in Early Childhood Education. Simon Fraser University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of Education for a term of five years beginning September 1, 2002. Please look for advertisement in the CAUT Bulletin and University Affairs. The closing date for the receipt of applications is January 31, 2002.

6 Staff Fitness Program

We are pleased to announce that registration for the January 2002 session of the Staff Fitness Program (SFP) - which starts the week of January 14, 2002 - is now underway and takes place in Client Services, Room G20C of the McGill Sports Complex (475 Pine Ave. W.).

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, and staff can register for only one course. If there is room in some of the courses after the start date, we will advise faculty and staff of any availability. You must register in person and show your McGill I.D. card to validate your employee status. Thanks to the continued financial support of the University administration, the cost to staff members remains at $11.50(tax included) for each 13-week course.

The Staff Fitness Program for Macdonald campus commencing January 2002 is in its final preparatory stages. We hope to announce the details of the Macdonald SFP within the next few days; faculty and staff at Macdonald will be notified directly by email.
