Of Irish descent, and believed to be a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Dr. Nicholas Patrick Conway was a veterinary surgeon for the City of Montreal. He was also a one-time proof-reader for The Gazette before he moved west to Calgary, Alberta. His image was captured on a postcard of the Calgary Stampede. It is thought he opened a factory which manufactured horse pills. An obituary notice of a man with the same name appeared in The Montreal Star in the mid-1950s.
