Take Home Exam

The purpose of this take-home exam is to help pull together what you learned in this course and to provide some closure to your thoughts in this course. To this end, do not spend an inordinate amount of time, please be brief, and please back up your answers with references to our readings..
Answer all questions.

1.   To what extent have you concluded that consciousness is more a process than a product? Support your essay with references to your readings in this course, particularly your texts. (30)

2.  Making specific references to Neuromancer, contrast Gibson's dark picture with the potential of  Virtual Reality to be of positive value for education/society. (10)

3. With reference your virtual reality text (or any text on VR),  distinguish between Virtual Reality and Cyberspace.(10)

 
 

4. What are some possible applications in education for virtual reality and cyberspace and what effects might these have on consciousness? (20)

5. Using examples from the chapter in Benedikt’sFirst Steps in which he proposes a number of “laws”, explain why there need to be some “laws” regarding cyberspace (30).
