A 16-year vetran of VIA Rail Canada, Fred lives on a farm some 7 miles outside of The Pas, Manitoba.  His work keep him busy supervising employees and maintaining the trains principally from The Pas to Churchill and the local train from The Pas to Pukatawagen.  A machinist by trade, he rides these trains a couple of times a month, trouble-shooting and checking for problems as the trains roll through the wilderness.  A breakdown in this part of the world in winter can be serious but Fred keeps things running smoothly.
