William Annesley

Jedediah Hubbell Dorwin owned an interest in the vessel William Annesley.  But what kind of a vessel was it?

It was not the barge William Annesley originally constructed in Montreal in 1824 as the William King and registered in Quebec City in 1825.  That one was 57 tons,  79 feet long, and had a breadth of 17 feet and was rebuilt in 1834 as the William Annesley. She eventually ended her service and was broken up.*

In fact the boat Dorwin invested in was a ferry boat which operated between Montreal and the South Shore.  Dorwin was a very minor investor in it (only about 2£ or so). The books of account are in the National Archives in Ottawa.  The boat was a financial disaster.
